II CELIAC SYMPOSIUM (SHERATON HOTEL, NOV.18,2009)ARGENTINA
Hi, friends!!!! Yesterday I attended the II CELIAC SYMPOSIUM at the Sheraton Hotel, Argentina. I'd been surprised so low attendance. At the very bigining, the first speaker was a representative of Mastellone, La Serenisima- Dadone. She explained how they manufacture their products, wich control measures they take, visas, etc. She used several medical terms that are not within my reach.

After that, a representative from Catalunya Celiac Association, who's name is Matilde talked about 2005 statistics, compared with current statistics across Europe. Following her, some health professionals talked about getting food labeling, laws and a unique international logo. Another items: food and diet, science status, what happens in daily life and socialization.

As a new, they think that in a long term, we are going to have medication available to improve gluten tolerance, specially for kids and teenagers.

There was a discussion with the attendees about different topics, specially the ones that affects each one personally. Syntoms, how the disease manifested, that not all of us has the same syntoms, etc. Some attendeees presented really complicated syntoms.

Control frequency of childs with celiac parents in their early years.

Authorities from Udaondo's Hospital, Authorizaties from Argentinian different associations, and celiac people from Santiago del Estero, La Plata, Cordoba, etc.

I'd met Lita Zapata and his husband, from Mar del Plata.

At the last minute we recived a very good news: The Argentinian Law has been approved by deputies.
We still need Senators approval.
